Penn State Safe & Aware Introduction
Please read the following instructions before starting the module:
This learning module is divided into two main sections:
The University requires all incoming first-year students who are 21 and under to complete the Alcohol Safety section. This section uses effective strategies to educate students about alcohol and its effects on the body.
All incoming first-year students (regardless of age) are required to complete the Relationship and Sexual Violence Awareness section. This information helps students increase their knowledge and understanding of consent, relationship violence, sexual assault, stalking, and sexual harassment.
The Sections you are required to take are listed on your Dashboard.
Dashboard
Navigate the module from your Dashboard. Each section, survey, and chapter is linked from the Dashboard. Access the dashboard by clicking “Dashboard” in the upper left portion of the screen.
Course Completion:
Once you have read each page of a chapter and completed the end of chapter quiz, the status on your dashboard will change to Complete.
All items on your Dashboard must be complete in order for you to receive a certificate of completion. You must download the certificate to get a completed status for the module. Your certificate of completion will be generated on your Dashboard after you:
- Complete the Course Surveys
- Progress through each page of each chapter
- Pass the end of chapter quizzes with an 80% or better
- Complete the Interactive Scenario
- Complete the Satisfaction Survey
Your status in our database will be marked "Complete" after you:
- Download your completion certificate from your Dashboard
Section Components:
Each section opens with a required survey.
If you are required to take the Alcohol Use Survey, you will also receive a Personalized Feedback Report on your Dashboard after you submit the survey.
Chapters contain the required learning content for this course. Complete each chapter that is listed on your dashboard.
Some chapters contain short self check quizzes to measure your understanding as you progress through the learning module.
Each chapter has a short quiz at the end to reinforce the most important aspects of the content. Score an 80% or better on each quiz for it to count towards your certificate of completion.
The final chapter of the Relationship and Sexual Violence Awareness section is an interactive scenario where you get to choose the outcome.
After you complete the final chapter, you will be taken to a short satisfaction survey. Complete the survey and submit it.
After you submit the satisfaction survey, return to your Dashboard. A link to the course completion certificate will appear on your Dashboard. You must download the certificate to get a completed status for the module.
